Why springtails?

Springtails are tiny, usually white arthropods that are often incorporated into terrariums and vivariums. They are one of the key elements in creating a bioactive setup. They also help fight and eliminate common terrarium problems such as mold and algae.

Springtails are detritivores, which means they love to feed on dead organic matter.

These tiny white insects feed on:

• Moulds

• Mushrooms

• Dead leaves

• Dead Plants

The life cycle of springtails is generally short, some can reproduce three weeks after their birth. This is why it is important to add at least one colony for them to reproduce and keep your tank clean. Springtails are among the few arthropods that undergo molts throughout their lives, even as adults.
